Dr. Abram Kamiza is a genetic epidemiologist whose research focuses on understanding the genetic and lifestyle determinants of cardiometabolic diseases and cancer in individuals of African ancestry. His work aims to address the underrepresentation of African populations in genomic research by generating high-quality genomic resources and advancing equitable precision medicine. His research integrates genome-wide association studies (GWASs), statistical genetics, multi-omics, and molecular epidemiology to investigate the genetic architecture of complex diseases and biological traits. Dr. Kamiza has extensive experience in developing large-scale population cohorts, conducting GWASs, Mendelian randomization, meta-analyses, fine-mapping polygenic risk scores, and applying bioinformatics approaches to identify genetic variants associated with disease susceptibility.
